OUR STORY
Why Teaching and Learning Academy?
My name is Fahim, I started my teaching journey in 2017, doing my PGCE straight after graduating in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
During my time as a teacher I've worked in 2 Ofsted Outstanding schools and have been a former Head of Year, Curriculum Lead and now currently Enrichment Co-ordinator for Maths at a top 10 school in the UK.
Since I started teaching, I've also tutored outside of school hours through various tuition companies and with private clients. This led me to start my own tutoring company—Teaching and Learning Academy.
We named it that to bring classroom-style teaching to the tutoring world, offering curricula for all subjects. Our approach combines all the teaching techniques I've developed and refined over nearly a decade of teaching and tutoring.
I'm Omar Faruque. Growing up in a working-class family and attending a state school, I faced many challenges similar to students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Inspired by a passionate maths teacher, I pursued a degree in Financial Mathematics and became a maths teacher.
With over seven years of experience, I’ve taught students from Key Stage 2 to A-level, including IGCSE and IB, tailoring lessons to each learner's needs. Currently, I teach at a top UK school with an outstanding Progress 8 score. I've mentored hundreds of students who’ve gone on to have successful careers.
As CEO and founder of the Teaching and Learning Academy, I aim to support and empower students from all backgrounds to reach their full potential.
